Carne Guisada Recipe

Carne Guisada is a savory beef stew that one of the super star entrees made and served in Puerto Rico. It is perfect by itself, or even better when added with white rice and habichuelas! Just be careful, as it is extremely addicting!

Ingredients

1 pound of chuck or round roast cut into 1/2" cubes, 2 teaspoons of adobo, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1/4 cup of GOYA sofrito, 3 teaspoons of beef boullion, 1 sliced medium onion, 2 teaspoons of GOYA sazon, 32oz of unsalted beef broth, 1/2 cup of tomato sauce, 3 dried bay leaves, 1/2 teaspoon of oregano, 10 green olives, 1 cup of thick cut carrots, 1 cup of diced potatos, 2 teaspoons of red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper

Preparartion

  • Heat the oil in a large pot over high heat. Add the beef and cook on all sides.
  • Add the GOYA sofitro, and onion, cook together for 2 minutes, then stir in the tomato sauce, adobo, sazon, beef boullin, oregano, and black pepper to the pot.
  • Cover the meat with water, but only enough to cover the meat (1-2 cups), and bring to a boil.
  • Cover, reduce heat to a simmer. and cook for 1-2 hours or until meat is tender.
  • Once the meat is tender, add the potatos, carrots, and olives, and any additonal water if needed.
  • Top and cover the stew again, and cook for another 30 minutes or until the vegetables are soft.
  • Taste and season more if needed
